Residential Loan Officer

Originate/process 1-4 family residential real estate mortgage loans and provide residential real estate sales support throughout Montana and region. Establish a network of external referral sources from which to originate mortgage loans; included are referral sources e.g. homebuilders, realtors, non-profits, key centers and previous customer referrals. Establish and expand current lender/investor base. Meets or exceeds established sales, cross-sell and referral goals congruently with maintaining high standards of client satisfaction and quality. Manages client referral and cross sell opportunities ensuring all new customers are introduced to Bank of Montana. Maintains sales/originator systems and efficient work flows.

Essential Job Functions

  • Originate and process 1-4 family residential real estate mortgage loans.
  • Achieve mortgage origination loan volume.
  • Responsible for knowing all Federal Regulations and bank policies/procedures that apply to your department, including the Bank Secrecy Act and CIP.
  • Provide service to clients and prospective clients seeking residential mortgage loans.
  • Solicit residential first mortgage loans through contact with realtors, builders, developers and housing organizations.
  • Keeps informed of trends and developments in the real estate market and mortgage industry.
  • Call on potential clients to develop new business both in person and over the phone.
  • Represents the Bank in various community functions to further enhance its image and develop and promote additional business relationships.
  • Maintain high standards of client satisfaction and quality.
  • Ensures sales/originator systems and work flows are efficiently controlled.
  • Manages client referral and cross sell process ensuring all new customers are introduced to Bank of Montana.
  • Performs / creates additional business development activities to increase sales and leads.
  • Participate in external Realtor and Builder trade groups (example: Home Builders Associations & Area Board of Realtors).

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of 1st mortgage production experience.
  • Verified previous income in the mortgage sales industry.
  • Minimum of 7.2 MM in personal production, 10 MM+ in personal production preferred.
  • A working knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, TIL regulations, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, ESPA regulations, local and state real estate and finance laws.
  • Bachelor’s degree a plus.
  • Excellent sales skills and communication skills.

Full-time Credit Analyst and Loan Processor

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related major with at least two accounting courses is preferred; however a financial background is not necessary. Energy and dedication to your career and contributions are essential.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare portion of loan presentations; perform credit analysis of financial statements, collateral analysis, and market study with direction and supervision of Loan Officer/Relationship Managers.
  • Present analysis of loan presentation to loan committee with direction and supervision of Loan Officer/Relationship Managers.
  • Participate in business development efforts with direction and supervision of Loan Officer/Relationship Managers.
  • Assists Loan Officer in performing projects aimed at identifying and limiting credit risks within the loan portfolio and adhering to loan compliance.
  • Assist in researching government loan programs and filling out the application(s) for eligible loan customers.
  • Reviews and reports non-compliance with loan covenants.
  • Ensures that all credit files include proper documentation including current financial statements, agency reports, etc.
  • Responsible for on-going maintenance of loan files, assessing informational needs and updating information whenever necessary.
  • Maintains control over current accounts, noting payment progress, watching for any developing problems, and keeping loan officers informed.
  • Accompanies lenders on business calls. Conducts industry research. Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Answers phones, corresponds with clients, and maintains professional correspondence skills.
  • Cross-train and assist in operations in the area of new account opening, teller-ing, internet banking support, wires, and other operations tasks as they arise.

Portfolio Manager and Loan Compliance Officer

Description: The Portfolio Manager and Loan Compliance Officer is responsible for monitoring and reviewing BOM’s loan portfolio and ensuring loan compliance. This position’s four primary job functions are portfolio review, collection management, loan underwriting, processing, and closing, and loan compliance.

1. Portfolio Management

  • Portfolio Analysis: Conduct monthly analysis to evaluate the general condition of the bank’s loan portfolio, its profitability, and its assets quality. Assess and monitor the quality and composition of the loan portfolio(loan size, risk involved, industries, geographical distribution, and length).
  • Monitoring Loan Loss Reserve Levels: Monitor and adjust loan loss reserve levels once per quarter by scoring outstanding loans to determine appropriate levels of loan loss reserve required.
  • Loan Covenant Compliance: Track client compliance with loan covenants, including an annual covenant compliance meeting and manage any changes through loan workouts and other negotiation with clients.
  • Statistical Tracking: Manage maintenance of statistical information on the loan portfolio and clients for report generation and internal control/evaluation.
  • Credit Policies: Periodically review and update BOM’s policy and procedures manual.
  • Examination Preparation: Prepare for and oversee loan portfolio examination preparation, including responding to all pre-exam questionnaire items requested by FDIC and other examiners. Complete annual reviews of all loans in BOM’s portfolio.

2. Collections

  • Collections/Payment Tracking: Track delinquent/defaulted borrowers and take necessary action. Work with borrowers upon any default.  Manage the repossession process in the case of delinquencies.
  • Monitoring Delinquency/Default: Monitor delinquency/default of both individual borrowers and of the portfolio as a whole. For individual borrowers, track each borrower’s payment history. For the portfolio, run aging reports monthly and track overall levels of delinquency. Provide information on the status of loan payments of current clients monthly and to assist in collection and post-loan technical assistance.
  • Loan Workouts: Manage loan workout activities including loan restructuring, asset liquidation, and all other negotiations with clients.

3. Loan Compliance Officer

  • Regulatory Compliance:  Demonstrates extensive regulatory compliance knowledge and possesses compliance testing skills specific to consumer lending, TIL, RESPA, and other lending-specific regulations. Monitors, trains, and ensures compliance and control environment are effective. Generally interfaces with senior management and loan officers to ensure proper loan compliance.
  • External Reporting and File Preparation: Responsible for the preparation of BOM’s statistical and program reports to examiners and auditors. Responsible for all file preparation related to loan compliance examinations and requests.  Respond to ad-hoc reports, questionnaires and surveys on compliance. Stay up-to-date on compliance hot topics and keep BOM’s loans in compliance.
  • Internal Reporting: Prepare internal reports and respond to internal inquiries regarding performance and program activities

4. Loans: Underwriting, Processing, and Closing

  • Loan Closing: Prepare legal documents for approved loans and meet with clients to close their loans and explain the responsibilities of taking on debt. Check client files for complete documentation, verify that any loan conditions have been satisfied and generate paperwork required to disburse the loan.
  • Loan Underwriting: Act as a member of the internal loan review committee. Underwrite loan requests, provide credit analysis, and act as a member of loan committee.
  • Loan Processing: Complete appraisal reviews and as necessary complete in-house real estate valuations.
  • Management of loan closing: Manage the closing and post loan communication/monitoring efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: program/business management, loan processing/servicing, portfolio management, finance, micro credit.
  • Must be detail oriented and have excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent decision maker with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ideally experience as a bank examiner.
  • BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration, MBA preferred

Summary

Bank of Montana is seeking a special project liaison and administrative assistant. This individual will manage special projects as well as perform advanced word processing duties including editing of intricate documents and contracts and formatting outgoing company documents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides word processing: typing of material; formatting and editing reports, including creating tables of contents, lists of figures, tables and appendices; Compiling specification packages; Formatting and editing letters, memorandums, agendas, handouts; Mailing lists; Electronic file management.
  • Works as back-up teller for Bank. Opens new accounts for customers. Initiate wires.

  • Project assistant: Maintains project calendar; Organizes meetings; Prepares meeting minutes; Attends meetings; Maintains distribution and mailing lists. Manages project files: Keeps track of project files through specific software and may include one or more of the following: Data entry; File retrievals from off-site source; Categorizing material; Generation of archiving lists; and List maintenance. Performs Production Clerk duties as needed: Makes copies, collates, and binds project materials and other printed matter. Distributes incoming facsimiles. Makes occasional deliveries.
  • Files and maintains client files, project files, and catalogs.
  • Answers and manages phone and switchboard console. In charge of computer, postage meter, copier, binder, and hole punch.
  • Maintains company documents and may include one or more of the following: Categorizing materials; data entry, labeling materials, and filing material on shelves.  Maintains organized file room and filing system.
  • Answers telephones and greets visitors; Sorts and distributes incoming mail; prepares outgoing mail and delivers to mailbox; arranges special courier and overnight deliveries as necessary.
  • Coordinates lunch and meeting refreshment orders, keeps a tidy office environment which includes basic kitchen and meeting room cleanup.

Education and Experience:

Administrative secretarial certificate or associate degree minimum preferred. Excellent communication skills, enjoys people and interaction, strong typing abilities (70+ WPM), advanced skills on Word and Excel, Outlook proficiency.
