Kim Shappee is the Senior Credit Officer, a Vice President, member of ALCO, Lending Compliance Officer, and Chief Talent Officer at Bank of Montana. She is an expert in multifamily finance and small business lending. Kim has assembled some of the most complicated financing packages ever assembled by our commercial lending team; including combining up to three economic development agencies and six loan types to make one commercial project happen. She has also assembled asset-based lending programs utilizing national sources that enabled one client to literally quadruple profits in 6 months due to being able to access desperately needed working capital.
Kim is a founder and owner of Bank of Montana and one of only two HUD MAP underwriters in a six state region (the other is Bank of Montana’s CEO, Tom Swenson).
Prior to joining the Bank of Montana, Kim served as an Assistant Vice President at Montana Business Capital Corporation, where she focused on commercial lending, real estate development, and economic development lending. Before joining Montana Business Capital Corporation, she worked in South Africa teaching entrepreneurial empowerment to Xhosa, Afrikaans, and Zulu students at the University of Stellenbosch and in South African townships as well as in micro lending. Additionally, Kim’s professional experience includes working at the Gillette Corporation in its Latin American Global Business Development sector. She was born and raised in the state of Montana and is a licensed real estate agent.
Whether teaching entrepreneurship in an African village, rafting the Colorado River, freestyle skiing, being featured in National Geographic Adventure Magazine, or securing the financing you need for your next project, you can expect a commitment from Kim few can match.

Thankful to live in such a beautiful area with her family, Kim enjoys all that Montana has to offer with the company of her young son and husband. In her free time you will find her on a new adventure; from kayaking one of the many rivers in the area, to skiing at Snowbowl or other local mountains.
After the 2008 financial crisis, Kim decided to start offering a free women’s financial education class. Kim has since grown these courses into a year-round offering in Missoula and is working with the Women’s Foundation of Montana to offer these courses statewide. Kim is often a guest instructor for the Montana Academy of Entrepreneurship Advanced courses at the University of Montana and is also a faculty member of the University of Washington’s Pacific Coast Banking School.
