Deana Carlson

Senior Vice President, Assistant Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Operations Officer


Deana’s experience in banking and accounting is extensive and diverse. Deana has accumulated 8 years of management experience, serving as Bank of Montana’s Chief Operations Officer where she manages tellers, new accounts, customer service and accounts payable staff while also responsible for all aspects of operations.   Additionally, her banking experience expands into the lending side of banking as well, with 6 years of business banking experience in commercial credit underwriting and loan servicing and working with government loan programs. She also spent two years in residential mortgage lending after establishing the residential side of a loan brokerage company.

Additionally, Deana has over 18 years of experience in both public and private accounting, including currently serving as Assistant CFO at Bank of Montana, preparing the bank’s monthly financial statements, budgeting, and government reporting, including the bank’s quarterly call report. She is also the bank’s internal auditor.

In addition to her banking, management, and accounting background, Deana was the first employee of Montana Business Capital Corporation; after Tom Swenson founded Montana Business Capital Corporation in 1998. Deana served as the Chief Financial Officer of Montana Business Capital Corporation for a number of years. Montana Business Capital Corporation effectively evolved into the Bank of Montana.

Deana volunteers on the finance committee at the Missoula Family YMCA.  She also enjoys family time with her husband and two sons. Her hobbies include skiing, camping, fishing, and outdoor recreation.
